Website Redesign SEO Checklist for UAE Businesses

A redesigned website may look better while making established pages harder to find. Treat the launch as a content and URL migration, not only a design task.
Before development: record what exists
Export your current page URLs, titles and descriptions. Use available Search Console data to identify pages receiving search impressions and clicks. Record important inbound links and customer entry pages. Keep a backup of the old content and assets.
Map each old page to a useful destination
If a page still serves the same purpose, retaining its URL avoids an unnecessary change. When a URL must change, redirect it permanently to the replacement page. Do not redirect every removed page to the homepage: visitors should reach content that answers the original request. Pages with no replacement should return an appropriate missing-page response.
Check Arabic and English versions separately
Use distinct URLs for each language and connect actual equivalents with reciprocal hreflang annotations. A service page should not declare a homepage in another language as its translated equivalent. Review right-to-left layout, navigation and translated forms with a human reader.
Inspect the launch version
Confirm that intended public pages are crawlable, have accurate titles and canonical URLs, and appear in the sitemap. Remove staging-only noindex instructions before publishing. Test navigation and forms on mobile, including error states. Make sure missing URLs return 404 rather than a successful homepage.
Monitor after publication
Submit the updated sitemap in Search Console and inspect representative pages. Watch indexing, redirect errors and search traffic trends. Expect some movement while search engines process the changes. Keep records of the launch date and fixes so that performance changes can be investigated.

Frequently asked questions
Will rankings stay exactly the same?
No exact position can be guaranteed. Retaining useful content, mapping URLs and checking indexing reduces avoidable migration problems.
Do I need a new domain?
Usually not. A redesign or functional upgrade can run on the existing domain.
